We will miss Lou very much.  He is truly a man of the Greatest Generation.  All of Normandy will miss him as well.  Love to all the Horn family.

Gene Garren and Carol King

PS  We would like to make a contribution in his memory.  Does you family have a preference.

Dear Gene and Carol,

Thank you sir, for your thoughts and making such a wonderful offer.

Lou's only charity was trying to make sure that every Vet who wanted to go back to France, to reconnect with a time that in many ways defined their lives and the world to follow, for many generations, could do so.

There are very few remaining today. Their achievements as a generation have defined who we are as Americans today.

Anything you can do towards that end, is appreciated by all of us who know and understand.

Remembering them, honors us all.

Yours Truly,
Jim Horn

We're so sorry that we couldn't say "Goodbye". There are no words, Jimmy, to explore the happy times we had. They are memories that will forever be in our heart's mind. All of us who were there will know.
With all our love,
Mae & Tony Paolino

I went on the dedication trip, 2002, with my Dad & sister.  This year I went and took my son Don, it was a much smaller group, but it's a trip my son will never forget.  Lou had him drive one of the vans, and he was very complimentary  to me on my son.  Lou was a great person and we will miss him and his trips.  I called my son and told him and he was very sad to hear it.  Just know one thing.

Lou touched many lives and he lives in their memories.

Dear Jim,
I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of you dad.  I had the opportunity to travel to France - summer 2002 and got to know your father. He was a very nice man.  He did an excellent job organizing those trips - that's very difficult work.  My dad was living at the time and was 88 years "young" and couldn't travel so I represented him on this trip.   I got to know so many of his life long buddies and now have an extended family as well.  My mother and dad attended the yearly reunions for many years.  My mother (Mary) passed away in March, 1999 and my father (Calvin Lawrence) passed away this past February.
I talked with your father this past October in Columbus.  I'm to glad he saw the completion of the 507th film - your dad did a very good job too.
It will be sad holiday for both of us.  I will pray for you.
I've e-mailed John McCann in Ireland - do you know he is writing a book on the 507th when they were stationed in Ireland?
God Bless you,
Mrs. Marilyn Thomas
