Dear Jim and Horn Family,
,
My wife Billie and I, along with my two sons and their wives had the honor
and pleasure of meeting your father during the trip to France for the dedication
of the 507th memorial. This was a big shock to my family when we
heard about his untimely death. We know you miss him more than we
will ever know. All of his many friends will miss him.
We will never forget all of the work he accomplished concerning our memorial
and the many tours to France as our friend and leader. We will
remember your Mother and family in our prayers. Never
will we forget our Trooper Lou Horn.
God Bless,
Edward and Billie Isbell

Dear Jim
We were very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing.
We, too, were on the latest 507th trip to Normandy which your Dad put so
much energy into organizing. My Dad was Arthur Maloney, 507th Ex.
Officer, Headquarters/Headquarters Company. He died in 1994 just
before the first 507th trip to Normandy which we also went on.
Every time we lose one of these great veterans it is a
blow to all of us "kids." You can be especially proud of
your Dad's service to the 507th during WWII as well as in the years to
follow when he did so much to hold the group together and keep all his
buddies active in the 507th Association.
We share your loss and may your heart be comforted in
knowing that there are so many of us out here who care deeply.
Dennis and Barbara Maloney

We are Deeply saddened to learn of Lou's passing. On the occasions
I met with Lou in Normandy, his warmth and friendship shone through.
Particularly memorable was the trip over to France last year for the
dedication of the 507th memorial. My colleagues and I will always be
grateful to Lou, for inviting us to the ceremony and for looking after us
so well while we were with the 507th. Lou will be sadly missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family.

We were shocked to learn of the passing of "Lou
Horn". I had only spoken with Lou
the week past. And when Fuji called to explain why they had
not sent a Christmas
Card it seemed like a "bad dream". Lou was too full
of life to suddenly not be here.
We could not believe it ! Lou and I served in the 507th PIR
and he continued to
be one of the " ramrods" that kept
"us old men" involved and moving. The trips
to Normandy; the 507 Monument, the reunions, talking with Lou on the
telephone,
are now "treasured memories". Memories of Lou
are many and they are all "good"
memories" - it is wonderful to realize so many of us will
remember Lou as a gentle
man who tried to portray himself as a "hard ass" type
individual - we knew different.
We know you and your family are shocked at the sudden passing
of Lou
and we offer our sincere condolence. Jim- there is a saying
often heard in the
Military: "Only the good die young". Lou Horn was
young in spirit, personality and
nature. He will be missed by many.
