I did not know your father, but I understand that he served
with my father in
the 507th PIR during WWII. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.
My father
passed away in 1988. He spoke very little of the war to me. It
wasn't
until Band of Brothers came out that I took an interest in what he
actually
did during WWII. I have no idea if our fathers actually knew each
other,
but the fact that they served together in the same unit is good enough for
me to send my condolences. They were great men to do what they did.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.
Sincerely,
George Jaccoud Jr.

Dear Fuji and Jim,
I am so sorry to hear about your husband and Dad, Lou, passing.
He will be missed by everyone in the 507th, especially with all the
tours to France. He did such a great job last year, but I remember
him saying that one was his last. I hope you and your family can
find comfort in knowing that I, along with his many friends, share your
sorrow. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
My very best
wishes, Lois H. Reed (widow of Earcle (Pip) Reed, 507 PIR)

Obviously, we were shocked to hear about
Lou. I really only got to know Lou from the last trip to Normandy. He
organized it and did a great job. He was a take charge person and I
remember
him "gathering the crowd" together one morning in Cherbourg to
get on the
busses. He had that electric hand horn and I think he had it up to number
10
and when he got finished, he woke up half of the people of Cherbourg! He
has
done a lot for the 507th and he is another person who has given his life
for
his country in many ways. Our thoughts and prayers go to you and the rest
of
your family.
Thank you for this opportunity to speak about Lou.
Sincerely,
Dennis (Son of Col. Maloney) and Barbara Maloney |
